Iveco company, a part of the Fiat Group, is one of the leading international manufacturers of commercial vehicles and diesel engines. It was founded in 1975 as a result of the merger of five leading, traditional European manufacturers, which were joined in subsequent years by other companies. Since then, the company has maintained its international character, which has evolved through strategies targeted especially at emerging countries. Our Italian partner Icon MediaLab has been assigned the tasks within the development of the official Iveco Web site, and Arhel provided expert consultancy and development throughout the process.
Iveco, being a world known brand with an international presence, needed an advanced technological partner to work on improvements and usability. Icon Medialab, our partner from Milan, was chosen as partner to deliver consultancy, development and creativity in bringing Iveco to the Web.
Iveco has many offices around the globe, almost in every country. These offices take care about local workshops, dealers and other related services. On the Iveco web site there is 'Iveco locator', a web application that is used to find data about every Iveco's service in the world. There was a need for a tool that would collect that data from their country offices. Thera was also a need for usability improvement on the 'Iveco locator'.
Data about Iveco's services are collected as MS Excel files. That's why our senior consultant has made a tool which is written in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). This tool can be used from MS Excel, and it converts data to the format which is then used for update the 'Iveco locator' on-line database. All usability improvements are made using the PHP and DHTML.
